28 ChoicesUK stores shut down by administrator

The administrator of troubled retail and distribution firm ChoicesUK has already closed 28 of the company’s stores – resulting in 240 redundancies.

MCV can reveal that 35 of the job losses were made at the firm’s Peterborough head office, following an operational review of the retailer by administrator PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Joint administrator of ChoicesUK at PricewaterhouseCoopers Nick Cropper said:

"Since being appointed as joint administrators to ChoicesUK, it has become necessary to close 28 loss-making ChoicesUK retail branches across the UK. Unfortunately, the closure of these stores has meant that we have no option but to make 240 of the 1700 ChoicesUK employees redundant.

These redundancies include 35 from the head office in Peterborough and follow an operational review by administrators of the stores and the head office function.

"We have received a number of enquiries from interested parties and are continuing to trade the business whilst we seek a buyer for the business as a going concern."

PricewaterhouseCoopers this week told MCV that it had already seen ‘significant interest’ from potential buyers of ChoicesUK.
