Evolve debuts at No.1 as New 3DS boosts hardware sales 57%

2K Games’ new multiplayer shooter Evolve has entered the UKIE GfK All Formats Top 40 at No.1.

Xbox One won the lion’s share of sales, edging just 400 unit sales ahead of PS4. The PC release claimed just three per cent. Note that these numbers do not include digital sales, which will be particularly sizable for the latter.

It’s the first non-Grand Theft Auto game from Take 2 to top the listings since the release of BioShock Infinite in March 2013.

On the hardware front, the launch of Nintendo’s New 3DS and New 3DS XL saw hardware sales jump 57 per cent week-on-week, helping two 3DS titles debut in the Top 5. Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D arrives in second place and Capcom’s Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate claims fourth in its first week.

Last week’s No.1 Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare drops to third place while a retail promotion for Far Cry 4 sees Ubisoft’s shooter more than double sales week-on-week, seeing jump two places to seventh.

Here’s the Top 10 in full for the week ending February 14th:
1. Evolve (2K Games)
2. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D (Nintendo)
3. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Activision)
4. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (Capcom)
5. Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar)
6. FIFA 15 (EA)
