Eyebrows raised as US gun manufacturer makes Nintendo Zapper Glock

Toys that resemble real-world hand guns are banned in most markets, but what of the other way around?

Although it still feels weird for us in the UK, even shops like Walmart sell guns and ammo in the US, so it’s no surprise that the gun customisation market is a big one.

One recent custom has raised eyebrows, however. Texas-based firm Precision Syndicate announced via Facebook a customised Glock fashioned in the style of Nintendo’s Zapper lightgun for the NES.

A lot of folk are already uncomfortable at toys based on violent video game licenses such as Call of Duty and Halo. For an arms company to swing the other way and style an actual gun after a kids toy drew plenty of criticism.

In light of the ‘Nintendo Glock’ drama, we feel that the media and our fans need to know that this firearm will not be mass produced nor will it ever be,” the company has now clarified. This is a one off custom build for a friend of ours.

The developer of underwater survival adventure Subnautica recently said that his title deliberately does not equip players with firearms due to his team’s fundamental opposition to US gun laws.
