FIFA 15 finally drops PS2 after 13 years (there’s no Wii U version either)

For the first time since the year 2000 there will be no new FIFA game on PS2 this year.

Eurogamer reports that FIFA 15 will be released on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Vita, 3DS and Wii some time later this year (almost definitely September).

Note that Wii U is not included in the list. EA had a version of FIFA 13 ready for Wii U’s launch in 2012 but there was no Wii U release of FIFA 14 last year.

The PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of the game will be receiving EA’s full raft of updates and functionality tweaks – with the PC game being based on the Ignite engine for the first time – whereas other platforms are getting what EA describes as a version of FIFA 15”.

In addition, the boxart for the 3DS, Vita and Wii versions of the game carries a Legacy Edition” label.

It’s not yet been specified precisely what this means, but it likely means that the games are mechanically identical to their predecessors with the only difference being updated squads and kits.
