MCV Awards 2015: Nintendo UK’s James Honeywell takes away Unsung Hero prize

Nintendo UK veteran James Honeywell was declared the Unsung Hero at this year's MCV Awards.

Honeywell has been at Nintendo for 20 years, and on the night was praised for his superb product knowledge and hard work with the company, including launching the DS and 3DS consoles.

In a video shown before he was presented with the award (below), the likes of Nintendo marketing director Shelly Pearce and sales director Andy Yates praised Honeywell for his contriutions to the company.

Unsung Hero was one of three new prizes at this year's MCV Awards; the other two being Store Manager of the Year and Person of the Year. These were won by Games Centre's Craig Kennedy and Team 17's Debbie Bestwick respectively.

Over 71 companies from across the entire games industry competed closely for recognition in 22 different categories.

Three brand new special accolades were also up for grabs, going to outstanding individuals recognised as Unsung Hero, Person of the Year and Store Manager of the Year, as well as three inaugural company award categories: Media Team, Agency Team and Independent Games Publisher.
