Monster Hunter XX coming to Switch

Capcom has announced it will be bringing Monster Hunter XX to the Nintendo Switch. At the moment, it looks like the Switch version is only confirmed for Japan, but Capcom will be announcing more details about the game at a Monster Hunter event taking place this weekend.

Monster Hunter XX is the follow-up to Monster Hunter X, which released as Monster Hunter Generations in the UK. The 3DS version of Monster Hunter XX has yet to receive a western release, but it's already sold a massive 1.59m copies in Japan, according to the latest data from Famitsu - 1m of which was during its opening week on sale - and has been a constant sight in the Japanese Top Ten ever since it launched at the end of March.

While Monster Hunter doesn't have quite the same fan base in the UK, Monster Hunter Generations still did fairly well when it launched in July 2016. It entered the UK charts at No.3 after its first week on sale, and it was the 22nd best-selling 3DS title of that year.

Of course, even if Monster Hunter XX doesn't get localised, fans of the series can always buy and download the Japanese version through their Switch by creating a Japanese eShop account.
