Nintendo Direct roundup: Donkey Kong Country, Mario Tennis and Fe coming to Switch

Nintendo today held a Direct Mini that everyone had been expecting since EA internal documents leaked mid-December. The Worlds Ends With You: Final Remix, due on Switch later this year, and Dark Souls Remastered releasing on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC this May led the announcements. But Nintendo also announced that Donkey Kong will make his debut on Switch this year, with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze releasing on May 4th. The character will also be joining Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, with the trailer showing DK pulling off a fastball special and tossing Rabbid Peach into the stratosphere in his big monkey arms.

Wii U and 3DS title Hyrule Warriors is also landing on Switch this Spring in a Definitive Edition that will include Breath of the Wild outfits among other new features. Mario Tennis Aces is also scheduled for this Spring, with the Switch version introducing a brand new story mode. Another flagship character will land on Switch later this year, with Kirby Star Allies due to launch on March 16th.

On the Nindies side of the things, EA Originals title Fe, developed by Swedish studio Zoink, got a release date of February 16th, on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC, while Matt Makes Games’ Celeste will launch on January 25th on PS4, Switch and PC.

Other announcements included confirmation that Payday 2 was coming to Switch on February 27th, and free DLC for Super Mario Odyssey launching in February.
