PlayStation was most talked-about games company during E3

Research from social media analysis firms Synthesio and ListenFirst has revealed which games publishers were most talked-about at this year’s E3.

The data from the former – as reported by GamesBeat – says that PlayStation was the most-talked about games company during the show. 29.87 per cent of tweets mentioned the company, while 19.58 per cent talked about Microsoft. Both of those firms were ahead of Bethesda, with 15.47 per cent of buzz, and Nintendo, with 14.33 per cent.

PlayStation was the most active brand on social media, too. Sony wrote 245 posts – across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube – while Bethesda made 153 posts.

Nintendo and Ubisoft both saw 115, ahead of Xbox, with 111 posts.

Xbox, however, was the most-engaged-with brand, according to ListenFirst data. This is based on the total amount of responses to social media posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The Microsoft firm saw 842,000 replies, ahead of PlayStation in second place with 689,000 replies. Nintendo was in third, with 377,000, and Ubisoft took 373,000 responses.

Rockstar Games was the fifth most-engaged with brand, with 289,000 replies, despite not actually showing anything at E3. It’s entirely possible that these responses were the result of the rumoured Red Dead Redemption 2 reveal.

ListenFirst revealed last week that Compulsion Games’We Happy Few was the game that generated the most interest.
