Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant will launch alongside a VR game

Ridley Scott's upcoming movie Alien: Covenant will have its own game, ‘available as a paid title on major VR platforms', Variety revealed.

Labelled as a ‘VR experience', it's being developed in partnership with the Fox Innovation Lab, which described the title as a dread-inducing journey into the depths of the Alien universe."

The exact launch date has not been unveiled yet, but Alien: Covenant will release in May. The previous title created by the Fox Innovation Lab was The Martian VR Experience, which released two months after Ridley Scott's movie hit theatres.

Viewers will discover the true meaning of terror as they navigate through horrifying alien environments and a story where every decision could mean the difference between life and death,” the Fox Innovation Lab team continued.

The Fox Innovation Lab was created in 2014 by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment to produce VR experiences to launch alongside movies. It has since then launched VR titles alongside Wild and The Martian.

The last Alien game to hit shelves was Creative Assembly and Sega'sAlien: Isolation, which launched in October 2014and sold over 1m units.
