Of all the suitable places to go Pokemon hunting, The Holocaust Museum in Washingston DC is probably right near the bottom of the list.
It will be no shock, then, to hear that the organisation is not best pleased that Pokemon Go has placed three Pokestops within its building, resulting in plenty of folk wondering around its halls on the hunt for AR critters.
"Playing the game is not appropriate in the museum, which is a memorial to the victims of Nazism," communications director Andrew Hollinger told The Washingston Post. "We are trying to find out if we can get the museum excluded from the game."
It transpires there is a process to have Pokestops removed, but it requires the Museum to log into the Niantic site and fill out a form – something that seems a bit of a cheek seeing as the inconvenience arrived through no fault of its own.
"PokStops and Gyms in Pokemon Go are found at publicly accessible places such as historical markers, public art installations, museums and monuments," The Pokmon Company told Eurogamer.
"We invite any authorised person to contact us about the inclusion of their premises in Pokmon Go through our support website. We will take relevant steps at that point based on the nature of the inquiry."
The Holocaust Museum isn’t the only inappropriate venue to have run into trouble, either.
