Rockstar’s GTAIV may have survived its BBFC classification
in this country, but the upcoming game has been cut prior to its release in Australia,
reports.
No details have been released about what aspects of the game were removed, though the BBFC’s recent report about the title’s content may offer some hints.
Australia’s Office of Film and Literature Classification currently only allows ratings up to 15, though the body has come under increasing pressure to introduce an 18 certificate to prevent the banning of more adult material.
It’s not the first time the series has run into trouble in the region. GTAIII, Vice City and San Andreas were all edited by the OFLC, with the latter temporarily coming off the shelves following the infamous Hot Coffee scandal.
