Dirt 3 storms Battersea Power Station

A Dirt 3 press event will see the Battersea Power Station transformed into a high-speed obstacle course on Friday, April 8th.

Codemasters has enlisted the help of pro rally driver Ken Block who will be driving across the stunt track in his special Ford Fiesta. Copies of Xbox 360, PS3 and PC racer Dirt 3 will also be available to play ahead of its May 24th release.

Block is famed for his range of ‘Gymkhana’ stunt driving videos which have been watched over 90m times on YouTube. He drives for the Monster World Rally Team and is Dirt 3’s technical consultant.

Dirt 3 – the latest in Codies line of Colin McRae-style rally titles – will feature Gymkhana events in-game as well as the series’ core race experiences such as Rally and Rallycross.

Attendees will also be able to practice driving around Battersea Power Station in-game before uploading their highlights to YouTube. Here’s one Codies made earlier.

It’s an incredible opportunity and an absolute first for me to run a Gymkhana-style course in the heart of London,” said Ken Block.

Using Battersea Power Station as the venue totally came out of Dirt 3’s game design and makes for a brilliant backdrop. Dirt 3 is proving such an inspiration, and obviously I’m stoked about the game’s Gymkhana content.”

Members of the press can register and obtain a schedule for the day by emailing codemasters@lunchpr.com.
