E3 2007: Midway champions next-gen investment

Midway's 30-minute E3 press conference, while devoid of any major announcements, reiterated the sturdy line up the publisher has announced already.

Midway president David Zucker stated his firm had invested $100 million into developing next gen technology and tools. Midway is focussed on diversification outside of core games including casual family games, PC games, handheld and Wii games, and a pipeline of new and original IP aimed at a mass market audience.”

First up during the presentation was a trailer for John Woo's Stranglehold. It was announced that it will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in August. Midway's Mike Bilber claimed this game is truly what next-gen is about.”

Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Zombie Ninja Pro-Am was brought up, due for PS2 this October, while the company also announced that the Wrestling game TNA Impact! Which will arrive on the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii.

A new driving tittle called Wheelman was announced, more details on which will be released in the summer.

A new trailer for Blacksite: Area 51 was shown, which is due to arrive in September on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Unreal Tournament 3 was showcased by vice president of Epic Games Mark Rein, who complimented the game's unparalleled visual quality.” Unreal Tournament 3 will be released in November on the PC and PS3.
