EA is planning to release a 10-hour trial of Mass Effect: Andromeda for Access subscribers, the company revealed on its website today.
The game doesn’t launch until March 23rd in the UK, but those who subscribe to EA Access on Xbox One, or Origin Access on PC, will be able to play a sizable chunk of the game starting on March 16th – that’s five days before it’s due out in the US, and a full week before it’s UK release.
This should give players plenty of time to acquaint themselves with the new Mass Effect universe. What’s more, much like other early Access trials, players’ save files will carry over to the full game should they decide to buy it once the trial is over. This should hopefully drive digital sales of the game, particularly after the lengthy time investment.
The only players missing out are PlayStation 4 owners, as EA Access is an Xbox One-only service, while Origin Access is only available on PC. This subscription service lets players try new EA games early as well as save 10 per cent on EA digital purchases. It also gives them access to the EA Vault, a collection of EA’s best titles from both the current and previous generation of consoles. The service costs 3.99/month or 19.99 for a year on either platform.
All three Mass Effect games are currently available on the service, along with Star Wars Battlefront, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, Dragon Age Inquisition, Titanfall, Battlefield 4 and a whole host of FIFA, Madden and NHL titles.
Bioware recently announced that Mass Effect Andromeda will not be getting a season passand that its multiplayer won’t be required to finish the main game.
