Freeplay games festival calling for speakers

Freeplay Independent Games Festival has put out a call for speakers to present at its August 20 and 21 event at the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne.

Freeplay confirmed that a final program for the event is due in a little over a week, and are looking for speakers to cover a variety of topics including Australian game development culture, decision-making and team-leading, letting player metrics guide the user experience, art direction for low-end devices and more.

The Freeplay festival will be Australia’s largest event devoted to the intersection of development, art, culture, and education with over 2000 people expected to come along to its mix of games, panels, talks, and interviews.

Paul Callaghan, co-director of Freeplay has said: "we’re seeing significant shifts in how games are produced, in opportunities for development, and in how gaming and play connects to the wider culture. We’re looking forward to bringing that conversation to the State Library of Victoria in August and in our expanded public program of playful events surrounding the weekend."
