Infinity Ward producer: Call of Duty players aren’t hardcore gamers

Call of Duty: Ghosts executive producer Mark Rubin has suggested that Call of Duty’s most loyal players aren’t really gamers at all.

Rubin told OXM that the franchise’s most dedicated players fall under an undefined category, as the label of gamer shouldn’t be applied to someone who doesn’t play games outside of the series.

"We have an enormous amount of players who are more in the casual game space, but they play a lot,” Rubin said.

"It’s kind of a weird, ironic thing to say; They aren’t hardcore gamers, or even gamers, but they play Call of Duty every night. And those guys are going to continue to play regardless of platform. So I think not only will we continue to engage with that existing player base, but we’ll take next gen and see how far we can go with it."

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be available November 5th on PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360. It’ll launch November 15th on PS4, and November 22nd on Xbox One.
