Rockstar delays Red Dead Redemption 2

One of the most anticipated releases of recent times has been pushed back to 2018.

Red Dead Redemption 2 had been due out in autumn of this year, but Rockstar has confirmed an approximate six month delay.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is now set to launch Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” the company wrote. This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.

We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer.”

Details of the game remain very thin on the ground. It has so far only been confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One, and there is not yet any word on a PC release – mush to the frustration of the anxious PC gaming community, which is yet to come to terms with missing out on the first game.

Also confirmed is that the game will offer an online multiplayer spin-off, presumably in the same way that GTA V forms the basis for Grand Theft Auto Online.

Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland,” the reveal statement read. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.”
