Rockstar: Grand Theft Auto V delay conspiracy theories are "all nonsense"

Grand Theft Auto V was delayed solely to give devs time to polish and improve the game.

That’s the message from Rockstar, which following its announcement last week that the game has been delayed from spring to September was inundated with over 9,000 comments on its website – many containing wild allegations about the cause of the delay.

The most common theory is that the game was delayed to allows BioShock Infinite more time to breathe in its release slot of late March – a release window, incidentally, which allows Rockstar to spread the positive impact of its sales revenues across both the current and upcoming financial years.

We understand many of you guys are disappointed with this news,” the company wrote. Unfortunately sometimes such delays are necessary in all forms of entertainment, and especially in the case of a game experience as massive and complex as GTAV.

However this does not give you free reign to be abusive in comments. The general rules of common courtesy, decency and behaviour as listed above the Comment Box still apply here, therefore anyone continuing to post abusive comments will have their privileges suspended.

Also: To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they’re all nonsense – literally the only reason we’ve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be.”
