Top 100 Women in Games: Caroline Marchal

After an education in politics, multimedia and communication, supplemented by a late-blooming interest in games that began with the first PlayStation, Marchal joined Quantic Dream as junior game designer on Fahrenheit in 2003.

Marchal is very proud of all the games she has worked on since at Quantic Dream, including Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.

But Heavy Rain is perhaps the dearest to her, with the groundbreaking title providing her the most education for her as a game designer – and marking the first time she led a team.

For Marchal, VR is the most exciting development in games right now, laying the foundation for fully immersive experiences.

Her goal is to continue working on games that are not afraid to push boundaries, play with gaming conventions and that want to leave a mark with players.

This she hopes will be fulfilled by a concept/prototype she is currently working on with Sony’s London Studio.
