League of Legends developer Riot Games has announced the popular MOBA’s World Championships will be held in Europe this October.
The studio announced the news in a post on the official LoL website, explaining that the tournament’s quarterfinals, semifinals and finals events will take place across different cities within the region.
"It’s still too early to share exact details—we’re currently confirming venues, timing, format, and more—and we’ll be sharing those details in the next few months," Riot Games stated.
Europe last hosted the event in 2011, during its inaugural run in Sweden. Last year’s World Championships took place in South Korea, while the previous two years were held in the US.
