The long wait for Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 looks like it will be an eternal one.
Randy Pitchford, the CEO of the game’s developer Gearbox, has admitted that work on the game will continue, but that the title will ditch the Brothers in Arms brand and instead fashion itself around a brand new IP.
"[Gearbox] kind of started to go in a place that started to get a little way from what the core of what the Brothers in Arms brand is all about,” he said at PAX, as reported by Eurogamer.
It needed to be unshackled."
We know nothing of the new IP plans in store for the title, but the developer did say that the game will be re-announced at the Gearbox Community Day on September 15th.
Rumours about Furious 4’s future began swirling in the summer after it emerged that Ubisoft had dropped the associate trademark. At the time Pitchford conceded that the game had evolved” but said nothing more specific.
