Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube? suffers server strain as layer one nears completion

Developers at Peter Molyneux’s 22Cans’ worked through the night last night to help ease the server problems that have dogged the game since launch.

The woes, of course, are a result of the huge popularity of the ‘game, that despite receiving its fair share of criticism has been played by over 160,000 gamers.

At the time of writing only around two per cent of 100,000,000 cubes that comprised the top layer remain, with three sides completely cleared.

I now understand what’s going on, basically we and our server are overwhelmed by the number of people trying out the experiment,” Molyneux explained on Twitter. After a little cry I am immensely grateful to everyone for their patience, the six of us are working overnight to keep the service going.

We’re also working on an update that will fix the problem. Everyone please remember something as concurrent as this has never been attempted before, and we’re just a tiny company. What we’ve learned so far is amazing and we’ll share all of this but first we must fix the problems.

SO SO SO sorry but please be patient. What makes this so scary, because we want to keep the cube active we are having to make changes on the server live. Praying to the gods.”
