Facebook Live grabs exclusive PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds deal

The game of the moment has signed a new video streaming deal with Facebook.

Developer Bluehole has announced that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will stream exclusive content on Facebook Live starting today (July 10th) between 19:00-22:00 PDT (03:00-06:00 BST). It will then do the same every Monday.

Each live video will show off something different about the game. Hosts will alternate between Bluehole's community managers and the game's many content creators

This new initiative with Facebook will bring our passionate fan base closer to our development team,” Bluehole VP and executive producer Chang Han Kim said. Livestreaming has been very important to the growth of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

We believe that featuring PUBG livestreamers on Facebook further strengthens our commitment to the community while extending the reach of our game to a global audience.”

Facebook's director of global games partnerships Leo Olebe added: Facebook and the Bluehole team have a shared belief in the power of gaming communities, and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a stunning example of a hit game guided directly by its fans.

Battlegrounds is just as much fun to watch as it is to play, and we're excited to see some of the best PUBG creators bring exclusive content to Facebook to help fuel its growing community on the platform.”

PUBG hit 4m Early Access copies sold last month.

It was revealed last week that the game will spend a bit longer in Early Access than had been previously expected.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds was released in March and from the off developer Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown' Greene has insisted that the title would exit Early Access within six months. That target is now going to be missed.

Over the past few months I have done a lot of interviews, and in many of them, I said we hoped to be out of Early Access six months after we first launched,”Greene said. I've come to realize that restricting the window to a specific month could hinder us from delivering a fully featured game and/or lead to disappointment within the community if the launch deadline is not met.

So, we have decided that we are going push the full launch back a bit from the initial six-month timeframe, but want to assure you that we are still planning a full release before the end of Q4 2017.
