Frictional targets Q2 for Amnesia sequel

Frictional Games has revealed it has received developer thechineseroom’s final version of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, an indirect sequel to Frictional’s 2010 survival horror hit.

The series creator-turned-publisher announced on its blog that the game should arrive at some point between April and June of this year, adding that there are still some final development items to take care of before it’s ready for launch.

"We are testing, tweaking, optimizing, porting, translating and all those things that are part of the process of creating and releasing a game," the post reads.

A Machine for Pigs was originally scheduled to release last Halloween, but was pushed back due to expansion of the game’s scope.

"Originally we thought it would be a short, experimental game set in the universe of Amnesia, but thechineseroom had a vision that was bigger than that. As their work progressed, the potential for a much greater project emerged. What we ended up with is no longer what we had first imagined, but a fully fledged Amnesia game. A different kind of Amnesia, but definitely not a short experiment."

Amnesia: The Dark Descent launched on Steam in 2010, and quickly became a Youtube sensation for its ability to scare the living crap out of 99 per cent of people who dared play it. The title surpassed 1m sales in September of last year.
