Reliance to distribute Namco’s movie-based games in India

Reliance Home Video and Games today announced that it will distribute Namco Bandai’s movie-based titles in India.

E-Xpress Interactive had earlier announced a distribution deal with Namco, but that deal excludes games based on Dreamworks film properties. D3 Publisher had signed on to develop and publish games based on three upcoming Dreamworks movies earlier this year. Namco owns a majority stake in D3.

The Reliance-Dreamworks partnership extends beyond gaming, with the Reliance ADA Group, headed by Anil Ambani, having invested $325 million in Dreamworks in 2008.

The first Namco game to release via Reliance Home Video and Games will be Madagascar 3: The Video Game, which will be available on Xbox 360 and PS3 for Rs 2,799. The game will hit stores close to the film’s theatrical release in India.

Reliance Home Video and Games also distributes games from Codemasters in India. Reliance had acquired a 50% stake in the UK-based racing game specialist in 2010.
