Revenue for Kickstarter games recovers in 2015 - report

Kickstarter games revenue has rebounded from its crash in 2014, according to a new report – though that hasn't equated to more developers seeing success on the crowdfunding platform.

A recent analysis by consultant Thomas Bidaux posted on Games Industry finds projects under Kickstarter's games category brought in $41.6m thus far in 2015.

That doubles last year's $20.1m total, which was down significantly from the $48.2m games projects earned during 2013.

The recovery isn't due to more projects reaching their respective funding goal, but rather that some of the successes like Shenmue III and Bloodstained have been record-breaking campaigns. The actual total of funded projects is below both 2013 and 2014's figures.

The full report also covers data from other crowdfunding outlets, including Indiegogo and the recently launched Fig platform.
