Rhode Island selling Kingdoms of Amalur IP to repay 38 Studios debt

Another chapter has begun in the ongoing 38 Studios saga, as the governing body of Rhode Island looks to sell its Kingdoms of Amalur IP in effort to repay some of the $130m owed to the state.

The Providence Journal reports that lawyers close to the sale have confirmed interest in the game’s assets from multiple unnamed parties.

The report adds that along with the Amalur brand, ‘drawings’, ‘designs’ and ‘other related work’ relating to separate projects are 38’s most viable assets to sell.

Who knows what the value ultimately will be. But there is interest in the assets,” Providence-based lawyer Richard J. Land said.

Court hearings for the case are set to take place later this week.
