Tendulkar was originally approached to endorse Don Bradman Cricket 14

Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar was originally approached by developer Big Ant Studios to endorse and star in its upcoming cricket game, which was today unveiled as Don Bradman Cricket 14.

Posting on the PlanetCricket forums, Big Ant Studios CEO Ross Symons said, For "personalities" sometimes you just know someone, or someone that knows someone, and it works out directly and they tell their agent to just do the deal. Mostly though there are agents involved from the start and it all goes through them. I have family that knows Sachin, [but I] still had to go through management though and it didn’t work out.”

Asked by a PlanetCricket member if he knew how much it would cost to have Tendulkar endorse the game, Symons replied, I do. We couldn’t come to an arrangement”, suggesting that the deal with Tendulkar fell through for financial reasons.

That’s not much of a surprise, as Indian cricket players, and indeed the BCCI and other license holders, are known to charge exorbitant amounts to license out their brands.

However, many would agree that, in missing out on Tendulkar, Big Ant has bagged a player of even greater stature in Sir Don Bradman.

Don Bradman Cricket 14 releases later this year on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, with a PS4 and Xbox One release planned for 2014.
