Former Irrational developers announce Epoch

One of Australia’s newest developers, Uppercut Games, has announced its first title ‘Epoch’ for iPhone 3GS and iPad 1 and up.

Epoch is an action-combat game which sees players taking control of a robot in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and the focus is on cover-based shooting mechanics.

The game will use the Unreal engine, and is planned to be released onto the App Store in Q4 2011.

Uppercut Games was founded in February this year by Andrew James and Ed Orman, who each had over nine years experience working at 2K Marin in Canberra.

Uppercut was founded just across the border inside New South Wales, and has been one of 20 developers to receive support from the New South Wales Government’s Digital Media Initiative.

Ed Orman, director of Uppercut, says: "Our focus is on creating AAA quality whilst playing to the strengths of the platform. That means pushing the boundaries of the visuals whilst keepin the game intuitive and easy to control. With ‘Epoch’, we’ve met those goals – the game is already looking fantastic."
