Glu adds Gordon Ramsey to its celebrity roster

Potty-mouthed TV chef Gordon Ramsey is the latest celebrity face to team up with mobile publisher Glu Mobile.

VentureBeat reports that a Ramsey themed title is in the works at PlayFirst, a studio that Glu acquired in 2014. Doom designer Tom Hall is also named as a developer. It is understood the game will be a Diner Dash clone.

Glu has already found great success with celebrity tie-ins. Its Kim Kardashian title led to record financials for the company. It has subsequently not only extended its deal with Kardashian, but also forced an additional partnership with Katy Perry.

I’m thrilled to welcome undoubtedly the most recognisable and accomplished figure in the culinary world to Glu’s family of celebrity partners,” Glu chief executive Niccolo de Masi said.

We believe that the combination of Gordon’s global fan base and Glu’s leadership in the time-management genre with titles like Cooking Dash and Diner Dash make this partnership a recipe for success.”

Mobile rival Machine Zone has also been adopting the celebrity tact, having employed the services of Kate Upton, Mariah Carey and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
