In-app ad warning could come to Google Play next year

As mobile users become increasingly wary of monetisation initiatives within apps, Google is reportedly modifying its marketplace to warn customers about in-app advertisements.

An email found byDroid Lifesuggests that listings on Google Play could introduce a mandatory warning of whether or not downloads feature ads. This is expected to be similar to labels that specify whether games contain in-app purchases, which was introduced last year.

Developers have until January 11th, 2016 to declare whether their games and apps display ads, after which the warnings are expected to go life on the store. If they do not make this declaration before January 11th, they will be required to do so before making any further updates to their games.

Google will also be verifying whether apps are ad-free and may add the ‘Ads' label to the title's listing on the app store.
