iPhone 4 sales hit 1.7m in four days

Apple has sold 1.7 million units of iPhone 4 since it was launched on June 24th, with the company claiming the launch to be the most successful in its history.

The official figure comes as no surprise – the iPhone 4 pre-order process was hampered by websites falling over and other bugs in the system. In the US and UK, the initial stocks available for pre-order were sold out.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs said: This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history. Even so, we apologise to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.”
