Kim Kardashian: Hollywood leads Glu to best ever quarter

Glu Mobile has posted its best ever quarterly revenue on the back of the success of surprise hit Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.

Furthermore, the company has extended its agreement with the celebrity for a further three years, during which time it intends to release more titles carrying her name.

Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi now believes that revenues for the fiscal year will double year-on-year.

Free-to-play title Diner Dash was also a success for the company.

However, despite the Q3 revenue of $83.6m – up from $22.6m the year before – and a jump in sales of 270 per cent, the company’s share price tumbled 16 per cent on the news as it fell short of the market’s $85m expectation.

"A full content pipeline has enabled fans of Kim Kardashian Hollywood to stay in sync with Kim’s World and movements whether she is in Australia, the UK or celebrating a holiday or special occasion," de Massi told investors.

"I believe that we are just scratching the surface on what we can do in partnership with Miss Kardashian and we have extended our exclusive partnership out until 2019.

"I’m pleased with the pace and amplitude of Glu’s evolution of the past 19-quarters of my tenure. Our analytical and probabilistic approach to growing our portfolio has proven scalable and we are just getting started."
