In MCV’s latest rundown of the industry’s hottest vacancies and latest personnel news, Apple CEO Steve Jobs steps down, Tim Ingham returns to Intent Media and Venom hires six new members.

STEVE JOBS RESIGNS
In case you hadn’t heard, Apple’s Steve Jobs has resigned from his position as CEO. Earlier this year, he took a step back from the company due to health reasons, handing the acting CEO role to COO Tim Cook.

Jobs has now requested that Tim Cook be officially promoted to CEO. He has also requested to stay on at Apple as a chairman of the board and a director.

INTENT MEDIA: Tim Ingham heads up Music Week
Current CVG editor Tim Ingham has quit Future Publishing to rejoin Intent Media. As of October 3rd, he will be editor of Music Week, which the MCV publisher acquired from UBM in July.

Before joining Future in 2009, Ingham enjoyed a successful spell at Intent Media as associate and online editor of MCV. He has also written for The Independent, Metro Newspaper and The Evening Standard, as well T3 and Edge Online.

VENOM: Six joins peripherals firm
The UK accessories vendor has added six new members to its ranks. Tony White takes on the role of account sales manager for the North of England. He has more than 20 years of experience in retail. He will be based primarily in Hull.

Nick Wells joins as sales manager for the South of England, having spent the past seven years as an area manager for Caf Nero. He also worked at Jack Wills and Next.

Meanwhile, new business development assistant Louis Bowen will be working two days a week whilst studying accounting at Goldsmith Centre Business College in Letchworth.

Liz Campbell replaces outgoing finance manager Lynn WIlliams. She has 20 years of experience in personnel and account roles, and will also manage Venom’s HR department.

Finally, Steph Williams has joined the firm as sales office manager. She will work closely with the sales department as well as assisting with order processing, invoicing and organising logistics.

WE R INTERACTIVE: Social games firm picks up former Liverpool FC MD Purslow
Christian Purslow has joined the social games publisher, taking up the newly-created role of non-executive independent director.

Purslow was formerly the managing director of Liverpool FC and has already made investments in We R Interactive. He said: We R Interactive ticked all the right boxes for me as an investment – and then as an opportunity to be involved in a business where I can help its future development.”

CONFLUTAINMENT: Consultancy hires Wolters
Olaf Wolters will be joining international consultancy Conflutainment. He is currently due to leave his role as managing director of the German Interactive Software Association (BUI). He is also a board member of the Interactive Software Federation of Europe.
