RUMOUR: Apple console in the works

Parts of the internet went mental at the weekend after it was revealed that Apple boss Tim Cook had visited the offices of Steam owner Valve.

But talk of a possible acquisition was wide of the mark. However, Cult of Mac claims to have word on the true reason behind the visit – Apple is working on a games console.

Cult of Mac reckons that in conjunction with this project Apple is also working on an iTV product – an Apple branded HD TV that will integrate the company’s digital services and Siri voice commands.

It believes that the TV will ship with an Apple-branded, Kinect-likevideo game console” that will integrate motion and touch control.

However, where the story falls apart a little is on further claims that Valve is looking to team with Apple for its mysterious console project. Yep – that’s the one that was rubbished by Valve this morning.
