Supercell’s Clash Royale tops App Store charts

Clash of Clans developer Supercell is once again at the top of the App Store charts with its new title Clash Royale.

The firm’s new game shot straight to the No.1 spot in the US within twelve hours of it launching. In the UK it’s the best-selling free title on iPad, and No.2 on iPhone behind Ketchup’s Stack – according to mobile analytics firm App Annie.

In the grossing charts (which games are generating the most revenue), Clash Royale is the fifth best-performing game on iPhone and sixth on iPad. But with its wide adoption and download, expect to see Supercell flying up the revenue rankings before long.

Incidentally, the grossing game ranks are still dominated by Supercell’s first smash hit, Clash of Clans. As of yet, it’s not visible on the Google Play rankings.

Clash Royale’s instant success is not surprising. Supercell has seen wild success with Clash of Clans, which has been the highest grossing mobile game for a long while now. Last year, it was the highest-grossing game on the UK App Store. In 2015 its revenue was approaching $2bn, while in 2014 it was generated $654,000 a day.
