Warner launches free-to-play Batman: Arkham mobile game

Publisher Warner Bros has released a new entry in the Batman: Arkham series.

Entitled Batman: Arkham Underworld, the title is coming to mobile platforms and is free-to-play. It’s been developed by Warner Bros’ Turbine studio. It’s out for iOS – no word on an Android version as of yet.

The title sees members of Batman’s rogues gallery competing for dominance of Gotham City’s underbelly.

This isn’t the first Batman game that Warner and DC have launched for mobile – the Caped Crusader has also launched LEGO Batman, The Dark Knight Rises and Batman Arkham City Lockdown. So far these have been premium products.

Rival Marvel meanwhile has been rather aggressive when it comes to mobile gaming, releasing Kamba’s Marvel Contest of Champions, Marvel Future Fight from Netmarble and the likes of Spider-Man Unlimited by Gameloft.

The announcement of Arkham: Underworld follows the delay of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One HD collection, Batman: Return to Arkham.
