Apple has officially responded to the iPhone 5’s purple flare” issue in the usual way – it’s blamed its customers.
Hot on the heel of both iOS 6 Map-gate” and this phone scratches far too easily-gate”, the purple flare” problem is the latest to set Apple’s forums alight.
Users have complained that pictures taken with the phone’s camera often have an odd purple flaring effect around bright light sources.
And true to form, Apple has said it’s completely your fault.
Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources,” Apple’s official statement reads.
This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor. Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.”
That’s right – if you’d just hold the bloody phone at the correct angle it work like a charm, you tit. Sound familiar? If it does, that’s likely because Apple blamed its last scandal on users too.
Remember when iPhone 4 launched amidst reports of random signal degradation? That was your fault for holding the phone wrong, you idiot. That Apple a week later went on to issue free cases to all owners was in no way an admittance of guilt, of course.
In fact, Apple loves you so much it then went on the make the bars in the signal reception monitor a bit taller so the reception looked better. That’s going above and beyond, alright.
Anyway, Apple boss Tim Cook has already apologised about the iPhone 5 once. What more do you want?
