‘Big plans’ for PS4 and PC release Rocket League as it races up Steam charts

Psyonix’s new racer Rocket League arrived on PS and PS4 yesterday, and the developer has said the first DLC is almost ready to roll out.

The game is already second in Steam’s Top Sellers charts. Couple this with its availability for free to PlayStation Plus members and perhaps the fact that the servers were down all of yesterday and some of this morning is perhaps no surprise.

We’ve poured our heart and soul into Rocket League, and we’ve done everything we can to make it the best game possible — whether it’s dedicated servers, crossplay with PC users,” community and marketing director Jeremy Dunham said.

The first several weeks of Ranked play is officially known as ‘Pre-Season’, which will allow players to test themselves while learning how our system works. ‘Season 1′ will formally kick off sometime in August.

We have BIG plans for Rocket League and our players, which is why you can expect to see plenty more from us over the next several weeks, months, and hopefully, even years”

The first bit of free DLC – a map called Utopia – will be released for free this month, followed by the first premium DLC called Supersonic Fury which will add two new cars and several more surprises”. All future maps will be free to all players.

Rocket League is best described as an arena based football games. Played with cars. Matches can be 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4. Online and local split-screen multiplayer is supported.
