Biofeedback horror game Nevermind arrives on Steam Early Access

A game that adjusts its difficulty according to the stress being experienced by its player is now available on Steam Early Access.

Nevermind failed in its first attempt at getting Kickstarted last year but just scraped past its funding goal on its second attempt. However, developer Flying Mollusk has admitted that the $75k+ it raised has only proved sufficient to fund three levels. To expand the game it will require further sales from Steam.

The idea is that, using any one of a range of compatible biofeedback sensors, players will have a fairly easy run of things providing they can stay calm and collected. Should they succumb to stress, however, things become trickier.

Nevermind has been in full development for eight months, enabling us to create enough content to demonstrate a variety of levels that demonstrate the full potential for Nevermind as a unique, biofeedback-enhanced adventure-horror game experience,” the studio said.

We want to give our community the opportunity to experience the game in its work-in-progress state so that we can hear what works and what doesn’t to make Nevermind the best game it can be based on your feedback.

We expect Nevermind to be in Early Access for about six to eight months, during which time we will be developing additional level content, new features, and broadening our sensor support. We are currently targeting late October 2015 for a full release of the game.”
