Dignitas HotS player AlexTheProG retires from competitive play

Alexander "AlexTheProG" Grumstrup, a member of the Team Dignitas Heroes of the Storm team, has retired from competitive play.

AlexTheProG will be replaced on the Dignitas roster by Lawrence "Athero" Harper, who is coming over from Team Liquid. Athero previously played on the Dignitas roster, and will now be playing with the team again as they prepare for the World Championships at Blizzcon.

Dignitas have proven to be the best European Heroes of the Storm team over the past year, coming second at Blizzcon last year and winning all of the European regional events since then. A few mediocre performances were shaken off when the team managed to claim victory at Gamescom a couple of weeks back.

"The thought of retiring from the game has been on my mind for quite some time, and I think now is the right time for me to leave,” said AlexTheProG in a statement. I slowly started to have doubts about pro gaming before I joined Team Dignitas, because I didn’t enjoy playing as much as I once did, but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to play with some of the best players in Europe. I thought that I would easily be able to love the game and get my passion back if I was winning – especially if we would qualify for BlizzCon – but nothing really changed with the victories, only me getting more burnt out from the game and the huge amount of stress from the pressure to perform.”
