Doctor Who MMO runs out of regenerations

The free-to-play Doctor Who MMO is closing down. Yes, there was a free-to-play Doctor Who MMO.

Doctor Who: Worlds in Time was announced in February 2011 and finally launched in March 2012. However, a message on the game’s website now confirms that it will cease operating on February 28th.

Microtransactions have already been suspended.

The news continues a bad run of form for Gallifrey’s most famous Time Lord.

After what appeared to be a successful first run for the BBC’s free PC Doctor Who Adventure Games, and even the commissioning of a second series, the project was later scrapped – as was a sequel to PC and PlayStation title The Eternity Clock.

In better news, the Doctor appears to be enjoying more success on iOS and Android thanks to the recent launch of Doctor Who Legacy.
