ESPN posts job listing for eSports editor

ESPN has posted a job listing seeking an editor to head up a new eSports division within the company.

The Daily Dotreports the self-proclaimed worldwide leader in sports is looking to hire a candidate with expert-level knowledge” of major eSports properties, such as League of Legends, Dota 2, Call of Duty, Counterstrike: Global Offensive [sic], StarCraft 2 and others, including fantasy and gambling areas.”

ESPN’s interest in eSports has been evident as of late, with the firmpartnering with MLGto broadcastmultipleeventsover the past year and change.

That said, the merging of competitive gaming with the sports network hasn’t been without some derision – with president John Skipper statingeSports is not a sport,”and former ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd proclaiminghe’d retireif ever forced to cover video games.
