Evolve open beta hits Xbox One next month

Xbox One will host an open beta event for Turtle Rock’s highly anticipated title Evolve next month, with limited technical tests also planned for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.

The Evolve beta kicks off January 15th for Xbox One owners with Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. It’s set to feature the Hunt” game mode and give you access to the Goliath and Kraken monsters, along with the first eight hunters and all 12 maps that ship with the final game.

Turtle Rock also plans on patching in the game’s Evacuation mode to the beta on January 17th, a non-linear campaign option that combines all the maps and modes of the game.

Any monster or hunter character unlocked by Xbox One players during the beta will carry over the to the full game as well.

PlayStation 4 users who took part in Evolve’s big alpha event will have access to a closed technical test on January 16th. The test differs from Xbox One’s beta, in that it won’t include Evacuation mode and unlocks earned won’t be carried over to the game’s official release.

PC players who participated in the big alpha or that own a copy of Left 4 Dead or BioShock: Infinite will be invited to participate in a technical test similar to PS4’s – no Evacuation mode and unlocks won’t carry over.

Evolve’s full release is scheduled for February 10th on the aforementioned platforms.
