Gfinity is working on a large Call of Duty LAN event

Martin Wyatt, head of partner relations at Gfinity, confirmed to MCV that the company is currently organising its first Call of Duty LAN event of the year.

As the CoD World League moves through its second and final stage we are looking to support that process by springing up our first Call of Duty event of the year,” said Wyatt at the CEVO Gfinity Pro-League Season 9 Finals. We are currently finalising the date with Activision. I hope that the one we do end up getting will allow people to enjoy it very much.”

In previous years Gfinity has heavily supported Call of Duty with multiple LAN events over the course of the year. However so far this year the company has remained tight lipped about any Call of Duty LAN plans, until now. This has lead some people to think that Gfinity was dropping support for Call of Duty but Wyatt was quick to point out that this was not the case.

We have been away from Call of Duty for a little while, I think a lot of people thought we had turned our back on it, we hadn’t,” mentioned Wyatt. Like other games it’s all about picking your moments, it’s not necessarily doing events for the sake of having and events and getting involved in this land grab that some eSports companies are determined to dominate.”
