Minecraft is coming to the Oculus Rift in 2016

The world's biggest game will enter virtual reality next year.

Brick-building blockbuster Minecraft is one of the games from moe than 200,000 developers that have signed up to create for the Rift platform, Oculus announced at its Connect 2 conference.

Slated to launch next year, Minecraft VR will be the Windows 10 edition of the game updated to support the Rift headset.

It will carry across its compatibility with the Xbox One controller, allowing players to move around the virtual landscape using the pad.

Minecraft will be joined by a handful of titles previously exclusive for Valve' competing SteamVR platform that will also transition across to the Oculus' device.

These include Job Simulator, The Gallery: Six Elements and virtual sculpting software Medium, which will all support the Oculus Touch motion controllers – the handheld devices were themselves confirmed for launch in Q2 2016.

Gears of War and Unreal Tournament creator Epic Games debuted its VR title Bullet Train on-stage, too.

The consumer version of Oculus Rift is set for release early next year, with a developer kit for the platform arriving this December.
