Rock Band 4’s PC crowdfunding push fails to reach target

The world of Rock Band has been hit with more bad news.

Harmonix’s attempt to crowdfund a PC port of Rock Band 4 via Fig, which was to be developed by Sumo Digital, has ended in failure. The developer had looked for $1.5m. At the end of the campaign it had raised just over half of that amount – $793k.

The studio had said it would have an update for fans after the close of the Fig campaign, but that has yet to be posted.

Harmonix has enjoyed crowdfunding success in the past. Last April it successfully raised $844k to make a new version of rhythm action title Amplitude. Rock Band has fared less well, however, adding to the brand’s recent woes.

Last month it was confirmed that the publisher of the console versions, Mad Catz, had been kicked from the project, with PDP stepping up to fill it shoes.

A VR version of Rock band remains in development.
