Steam has its first VR-only best seller

Raw Data has become the first virtual reality title to claim the top spot in the Steam charts.

Although the game is currently sitting at No.2 in the charts, PCGamesN reports that it claimed the No.1 spot for a period following its Early Access launch yesterday.

The 30 game (currently 24), developed by Survios, is a first person shooter/slasher, with players fending off advancing robotic enemies. The current build boasts two characters, one of whom uses the gun and the other a sword.

We’re aiming to have the full version of Raw Data ready by late 2016. However, the Early Access period will last as long as it needs to gather valuable community feedback, implement it into the game and nuke every reported bug or glitch to ensure the final game is solid and complete,” Survios said.

The full release of Raw Data will be an ambitious, replayable smash-up of adrenaline-heavy action and engaging environments. You’ll get shooter-style firepower such as akimbo pistols, pump-action shotguns, and compound bows, but also dynamic melee combat with blades and fists, deadly defenses such as upgradable turrets, barricades, and traps, as well as special abilities and ultimates for each hero.

On top of all that, we’re developing more unique enemy types, as well as building out a full 12-part story campaign to further immerse you in the game.”

The dev also notes that player progress may be wiped from time to time during the Early Access period.
