Valve has announced that there is now over 10,000 games on its Steam distribution platform.

Valve announced the figure at its Steam Dev Days event, saying that over the last 10 years more than 10,000 games have hit the PC, Mac and Linux.

While this news is great for Valve, it probably isn't so welcome to the many indie developers who struggle to get attention on the massive Steam platform. A promised redesign of the store aims to change that soon, but for now many devs are still stuck with little to no publicity on Steam.

The Seattle based developer also revealed that over 600 of these games are VR experiences, despite VR support only being added to Steam six months ago. Over 300 companies have now licensed Valve's SteamVR Tracking tech, with many of the products using the tech expected to launch over the next twelve months.

Despite being an event aimed solely at developers you can probably expect a few more peices of news to come from the Steam Dev Days events, as Valve along with many third parties will be giving keynotes and potentially showing off new VR hardware to developers according to VentureBeat.
