Warner Bros was aware of Batman Arkham Knight PC problems months ago, report claims

Warner Bros was aware of the many issues facing Arkham Knight on PC and that the publisher chose to ship the game regardless, not to maniacally screw over customers – but because they believed it was good enough.”

That's the accusation being levelled at publisher Warner Bros in a piece from Kotaku that suggests the publisher was well aware of the many problems faced by the game months ahead of its release.

I will say that it's pretty rich for Warnrt to act like they had no idea the game was in such a horrible state,” a QA tester who worked on it said. It's been like this for months and all the problems we see now were the exact same, unchanged, almost a year ago.”

Warner removed the game from sale last week following a severe backlash surrounding its numerous technical problems on the platform. These include, but are not limited to, stuttering, capped frame rates and crashing. Two of the graphical problems were addressed in the first patch but we remain without an ETA for either further fixes or the re-release.

Kotaku also claims that while developer Iron Galaxy is credited as providing additional engineering and support” for the PC version of the game it was it – and not main developer Rocksteady – that built the PC release.

It is also alleged that just 10 per cent of the game's QA team were tasked with dealing with PC, with the rest assigned firmly to consoles – primarily because Rocksteady had a harder time than it expected getting the PS4 and Xbox One versions to work.

Warner apparently also bug-checked the PC game at 720p, perhaps explaining the many performance problems. In addition, concerns about the story being leaked meant that traditional PC testing firms that are used to stress test games on different hardware configurations were avoided”.
